Profiles - Judy Chang
Judy Y Chang was appointed as the first Banking Services Ombudsman (BSO) in May 2003.
Mrs Chang is a chartered accountant and retired early as a partner of PricewaterhouseCoopers in 1997 after been with that firm for 29 years, both locally and in Canada. She was Chairman of the Trinidad and Tobago Unit Trust Corporation just prior to her appointment as Banking Services Ombudsman.
Mrs Chang was appointed by Cabinet in 1989 to chair a committee on Company Law Reform for Trinidad and Tobago, resulting in the enactment of a new Companies Act for Trinidad and Tobago in April 1997 to replace the previous Companies Ordinance which was on the statute books for over 60 years.
Mrs Chang has also been active in other matters relating to the economic development of Trinidad and Tobago. She was a member of the Board of the Central Bank of Trinidad and Tobago and the Deposit Insurance Corporation; member of Council of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Trinidad and Tobago.
She is a member of a Cabinet-appointed Committee to review the bye-laws to be adopted by State Enterprises; Chairman of her alma mater, Bishop Anstey High School and a Trustee of the Anglican Church in the Diocese of Trinidad and Tobago.
Mrs Chang was awarded a National Chaconia medal for business in 1999.
Mrs. Chang retired as Financial Services Ombudsman in April 2008.
